Background Information

MDI Entertainment, Inc. specializes in providing sole-source entertainment-based Promotions to the worldwide lottery industry.Established in 1986, MDI's strategic focus since 1996 has been in developing and marketing lottery games based on well-known entertainment and pop cultural icons, by acquiring the licensing rights of the popular consumer brands. Starting with Star Trek™, Wheel of Fortune® and Twilight Zone™, MDI's Licensed Property Games (LPG) Division has grown to more than forty famous brands, for which the company holds exclusive lottery marketing rights.
MDI's licensed lottery properties include Harley-Davidson®, Wheel of Fortune®, Jeopardy!®, Elvis Presley®, Betty Boop™, The Palms Casino Resort, Ray Charles, Hollywood Sign™ and Hollywood Walk of Fame™, Pink Panther™, SPAM®, Corvette®, The Honeymooners™, Hollywood Squares™, I Love Lucy®, Lionel®, Magic 8 Ball®, TV Guide Crosswords®, NBA, Universal Studios Monsters™, Marilyn Monroe®, James Dean®, TABASCO® and others.
Since 1987 MDI has done business with 39 of the 40 lotteries in the U.S., with all of the lotteries in the English-speaking Provinces of Canada and with the international Lotteries of La Francaise des Jeux, China Sports Lottery, AnPost National Lottery , New South Wales and South Australia.
Along with the universal recognition and appeal of the brands themselves, MDI licensed lottery promotions offer unique "bonus" merchandise and experience prizes that add unparalleled entertainment value to the games for consumers and typically enable lotteries to acquire MDI's properties without licensing or royalty fees. MDI manages all prize fulfillment and customer service functions for its promotions, and routinely manages "second chance" drawings for many of its lottery customers, as well.
Post-promotion consumer research conducted by MDI has confirmed that the use of merchandise in lottery games makes a measurable contribution to significant lottery marketing objectives, such as creating new scratch-off players, bringing lapsed players back into the market, increasing spending and play frequency among regular players and making lottery play more entertaining and fun for lottery consumers.
MDI's staff includes former lottery professionals that have worked for nine different US lotteries. Its skills enable MDI to offer lotteries a full range of support services for its products, including point-of-sale design and production, ticket design, prize structure development, drawing management and market research. On January 9, 2003, MDI became a wholly owned subsidiary of Scientific Games International.
