Biography: Abel Tapia, Director of
the Colorado Lottery
Roxy Huber, Executive Director of the Colorado
Department of Revenue, appointed Senator Abel Tapia director of the Colorado
Lottery.
Tapia was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 1999
and to the Colorado Senate in 2003.
During his tenure, Senator Tapia was
the Senate President Pro Tem and the Chairman of the Joint Budget Committee.
Between 1985 and 2008, Tapia owned Abel Engineering Professionals Inc., a
full-service civil-engineering company based in Pueblo. AEP was listed as one
of the top 200 small businesses in Colorado by ColoradoBiz Magazine.
