Biography
Nordby has served as CEO of Norsk Tipping since 1989,
and holds or has held many leadership positions in the lottery industry
including that of Chairman of Viking Lotto, a multi-national lottery game that
is played in Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland. Ironically enough
International Lottery Expo is being held at the Hotel Viking in Newport.
He is also the initiator of the WLA Security Control
Standards and hosted lotteries from around the world in Oslo in 1999 at a
combined meeting of AILE and Intertoto which led to the official merger of both
groups last year in Scotland, forming the World Lottery Association.
After serving on the WLA Executive Committee and the
Transition Task Force, Nordby was elected President to lead the world lotteries
of the WLA.
He received the Order in appreciation for his work for
Sweden and active contribution to the co-operation between Sweden and Norway.
During International Lottery Expo, in Newport, Rhode
Island, Nordby received the Major Peter J. OConnell Lifetime Lottery
Achievement Award and was honoured at a presentation ceremony.Nordby is the
first recipient of this Award to come from outside North America.
He is an engineer and resides in Oslo with his wife
Anne. They have a son and a daughter.
