Biography: Dale Penn, Director of the
Oregon Lottery
Dale Penn assumed the position of Director of the
Oregon Lottery in October 2004. Before joining the Lottery, Penn spent
nearly 20 years as Marion County District Attorney. Since 1985, Penn has
been the Marion County District Attorney and was most recently re-elected to
his sixth term last spring. Prior to this service, Penn was a Deputy
District Attorney for Marion County for six years and in private practice for
one year. Penn currently serves on the Governor's Council on Domestic Violence,
is the former Chair of the Oregon Criminal Justice Commission, and the former
Legislative Chair for the District Attorneys. Penn was honored as Soldier
of the Year for the Fifth US Army prior to attending law school at the
University of Oregon from 1973-1976.
