On January 11, 2001, a licence was granted by
the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission to Supreme Ventures, to promote
and conduct three specific lottery games under strict rules and regulations
established by the Commission. The licence granted by the Commission is valid
for 10 years. The Company has since received an extension of its licence to the
year 2016. The Company began operations on June 25, 2001 with two out of the
three lottery games that it was licensed to offer. The games were Cash
Pot and Lucky5. The third game, Dollaz!, was launched on
January 20, 2003. During its relatively short tenure, Supreme Ventures has
earned the enviable reputation of being one of the leading and more dynamic
companies in Jamaica.SVL acquired 100% of the shareholdings in the Jamaica
Lottery Company (JLC) in December 2003, thus gaining a larger foothold in the
gaming industry with sales in 2004 exceeding $12 Billion. The company has grown
significantly since the acquisition of JLC.With a labour force of approximately
300 persons, over 900 lottery terminals island wide and with a total of 5
lottery games, the popularity of our products has increased as everything is
now all under one roof. There are the original SVL games: Cash Pot,
Dollaz and Lucky 5 as well as the game operations for the Lotto and Pick 3 for
which the Jamaica Lottery Company holds licences. The other JLC - Instant games
was re-launched in March 2005, under the brand name WinQuick. The company
operates 6 Regional Retail Centres across the island. Supreme Ventures,
which began operating four years ago, last year acquired its competitor,
Jamaica Lottery Company. Early 2003, the company faced a significant decine in
revenues after finance minister Dr Omar Davies imposed a 15 per cent tax on the
winnings of wagerers. The tax was eventually removed, and the company
immediately began to recover its revenue base.
