Berjaya Sports Toto Berhad ("BToto") was
incorporated in 1969 as Unilite Electrical Industries Berhad and changed its
name to Far East Asset Berhad in 1987. After a restructuring exercise in
October 1992, the company was renamed Berjaya Sports Toto Berhad.
The
principal activity of BToto is investment holding while its principal
subsidiary company, Sports Toto Malaysia
Sdn Bhd (“Sports Toto”), is involved in the business of operating
Toto betting under Section 5 of the Pool Betting Act (Malaysia), 1967.
Today, Sports Toto operates 681 outlets and offers 6 games which are drawn
3 days in a week. Sports Toto is the sole national lotto operator in Malaysia.
Overseas Operation: 1. The Philippines BToto has a combined interest of
100% in Berjaya Lottery Management (HK) Ltd which in turn has an equity
interest of 68.49% in Prime Gaming Philippines Inc. ("PGPI"), a company listed
in the Philippines Stock Exchange. PGPI has 100% ownership of Philippines
Gaming Management Corporation ("PGMC") and its business in leasing of the
online lottery system facilities in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon to
Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
The Philippines Lotto commenced
operation in 1995 and currently offers 5 games: Lotto 6/42, Megalotto 6/45,
4-Digit, 6-Digit, and Super Lotto 6/49 with draws held from Mondays to Sundays.
2. Ghana In 1997, Berjaya Lottery Management (HK) Ltd was appointed as
a consultant cum project manager on an exclusive basis by the Department of
National Lotteries of Ghana to restructure and improve the operation and
administration of its nationwide lottery business for a period of 10 years.
Currently there are 2 lotto games offered: 6/40 Jackpot and 5/90 with draws on
every Tuesday and Wednesday. Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd was
incorporated in 1969 by the Government of Malaysia. The eighties witnessed the
making of a significant milestone in Sports Toto's corporate history. The
Company was privatised on 1st August 1985, relinquishing henceforth, status quo
as a state-owned gaming enterprise. Sports Toto is currently a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Berjaya Sports Toto Berhad
(http://www.berjaya.com.my)which is
listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
Today, Sports Toto is the sole
national lotto operator with over 680 outlets throughout Malaysia and offers a
variety of games. Digit-type games (namely, 4D, 5D and 6D) and Lotto-type games
(namely, Toto 4/49, Toto 6/42 Jackpot, Super Toto 6/49) for the patronage of
the Malaysian gaming market.
Since 1969, the Company has donated
substantial amounts to the promotion and development of sports, youth and
