gaming industry, has launched the first state licensed and regulated mobile
lottery service in the Americas -- Melate Movil.
The end-to-end, real time
mobile platform service was developed in close partnership with Mexico's
exclusive lottery agency, Pronosticos Deportivos and telecommunications giant,
Telcel. The wireless lottery service enables consumers to engage in lottery
play on wireless phones and PDAs in Mexico using prepaid phone cards available
at 3000 Telcel retail stores nationwide.
Winners of the biweekly national
draws can claim prizes at authorized Telcel redemption locations or choose to
credit the winnings against their betting accounts. "There are 44 million
Telcel users in Mexico who can now access the lottery via their handsets,"
stated Nour-Dean Anakar, CEO of Digital Orchid. "The potential number and
complexity of transactions crossing the Melate mobile platform is extraordinary
