Created in 1930, the PMU has since 1985 of a status
GIE (EIG), bringing 51 Companies Racing.
Among these, two companies known
as "parent companies" are responsible for regulating the races in each
discipline: France Galop for Flat and Jumps, the French Horse Society for Trot.
The PMU is under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and the
Ministry of Budget.
It is headed by * Philippe Germond, President and CEO
since 1 May 2009, appointed upon proposal of Bertrand Bélinguier and
elected April 9, 2009 by the Ordinary General Assembly of GIE-PMU, and HURSTEL
Xavier, Managing DirectorElected by the General Assembly April 3, 2008.
