Pennsylvania Lottery's Millionaire Raffle Returns With More Than $5
Million in Prizes
Limited Number of Tickets
Go on Sale Today for January 2, 2010 Drawing
MIDDLETOWN, Pennsylvania (November
20, 2009) -Tickets for the Pennsylvania Lottery's ninth Millionaire Raffle go on sale
today. The raffle-style game will offer 6,000 cash prizes worth more than $5
million when winners are drawn at 6:59 p.m. on Jan. 2, 2010.
"The raffle game again features
the best odds offered by the Pennsylvania Lottery for winning a million
dollars," said Lottery Executive Director
Ed Trees.
Tickets will be available until 5
p.m. on Jan. 2, or until sold out, whichever comes first. Only 500,000 tickets
will be sold. When the last raffle ticket is issued, the game will close, and
no additional tickets will be available. Tickets for the eight previous
Millionaire Raffles sold out before the drawing. The most recent Millionaire
Raffle drawing was conducted on July 4.
Because Millionaire Raffle tickets
are scheduled to be sold over 44 days, Trees urged players to promptly sign the
backs of their tickets and keep them in a safe place until the drawing.
Each of the game's $20 tickets
offers a 1-in-125,000 chance of winning $1 million. The Millionaire Raffle
drawing will award four top prizes of $1 million cash; four $100,000 cash
prizes; 100 prizes of $1,000 cash; and 5,892 prizes of $100 cash. A total of
6,000 prizes worth $5,089,200 will be awarded.
Each raffle ticket will contain a
unique, eight-digit number issued sequentially across the state from the
Lottery's central computer, starting with number 00000001. The final raffle
ticket issued for the game will contain the raffle ticket number 00500000. To
be considered a winning ticket, the number printed on it must match the raffle
number combination selected in the drawing - in the exact sequence in which it
was selected.
Winning raffle ticket numbers will
be randomly selected at 6:59 p.m. on Jan. 2, 2010 when the Lottery's live
drawing show will televise the selection of the four, $1 million, top-prize
raffle ticket numbers and the four, $100,000, second-prize raffle ticket
numbers. The remaining 5,992 winning ticket numbers also will be selected, but
will not be televised live due to time constraints.
Odds of winning a $1,000 prize are
1-in-5,000, and the odds of winning $100 are 1-in-85. The overall odds of
winning any prize are 1-in-83.

Atlantic Lottery Improving Player Experience
MONCTON, New Brunswick, Canada
(November 23, 2009) - At Atlantic Lottery were in the business of turning
dreams into realities and we dont want our players missing out on the
experience of winning because their tickets have unknowingly expired.
Thats why throughout November
you will notice the way we use expiry dates on some of our products will
change. In November 2008, the Nova Scotia Government passed legislation which
provided Atlantic Lottery an opportunity to make some changes for the better
across Atlantic Canada. This is great news for our players because expiry
dates will now be clearly marked on the face of draw and sports tickets and,
regional scratch n win tickets will no longer have an expiry date.
National scratch n win and sports product tickets will have the expiry
date clearly marked on the ticket face.
At Atlantic Lottery, we are
constantly looking for new opportunities to improve and provide a better
experience for our players. We are also working with our retailers to make this
change as seamless as possible and we appreciate their partnership in
continuing to improve lottery products offered throughout Atlantic Canada.

La Francaise des Jeux and Disability
PARIS, France (November 13, 2009) --
La Française des Jeux is embarking
on a sustainable development policy designed to meet the expectations of
society, which looks to companies to reconcile social and environmental
progress with economic development and community action. La Française
des Jeux has chosen the issue of disability as one of the main planks of the
social pillar of its sustainable development policy.
The national lottery was introduced
in France in 1933 with a view to providing aid for disabled veterans of the
Great War. La Française des Jeux is continuing this tradition by
campaigning on behalf of the disabled.
A company-wide agreement was
signed in May 2008 with all social partners(1), providing an opportunity for
action together with a business plan.
In June 2008, La Française
des Jeux signed an agreement for disabled employment in the Hauts-de-Seine
region, near Paris. This region, home to the companys head office,
was chosen along with four other regions to pilot this agreement, unveiled in
October 2004 by the French Secretary of State for the Disabled, before the
agreement is rolled out nationwide. The signatories of the agreement have
pledged to:
- foster apprenticeships for
disabled persons,
- strengthen partnerships between
industry and universities, colleges and apprentice training centres,
- work with vocational retraining
centres and businesses in order to improve the national skills base.
1. Company policy
To encourage the recruitment of
disabled people: Under French law, companies with more than 20 employees
must directly or indirectly employ disabled workers so that this group
represents 6% of the companys workforce. Alternatively, companies can pay
a fixed amount to the government instead of recruiting disabled workers. This
is what most companies end up doing: 36% of them do not employ any disabled
people, while the average rate of disabled employment among firms is 2.90%. La
Française des Jeux plans to fulfil this obligation solely by employing
disabled workers either directly or indirectly. In terms of recruitment, in
2009 the employment rate of disabled workers within La Française des
Jeux was 3.35%, compared with 2.97% in 2007. The goal is to increase this to
4.03% after three years, representing an annual rate of increase of 10% over
three years.
To achieve this, La Française
des Jeux has decided to fast track the recruitment of eligible candidates by
embarking on a process aimed at establishing a network of firms committed to
disabled employment. The aim of this Hangagés [in French, a
compound word blending disability + commitment] network, which includes
Société Générale, Nexter, Bosch, Quick, ETDE and
Carlson Wagonlit among its members, is for members to share experiences and to
pool efforts in order to secure the best chance of matching individual disabled
workers to the most appropriate member companies.
To ensure the successful
integration of disabled workers: All company employees should work together
to integrate and support disabled workers.
To support this policy, the company
has introduced the new position of Company Coordinator, who will be
responsible for monitoring action plans. The Company Coordinator will be
supported by a Disability Officer; in other words, a qualified
member of staff at each of the three sites of La Française des Jeux who
will be responsible for raising staff awareness, supporting disabled workers at
each site and offering their services to company employees involved in these
schemes.
Following the AGEFIPH agreement
signed in May 2009, the company now receives support and advice for the
integration of disabled workers, and could qualify for grants to adapt
workstations and to pay for the cost of special transport.
All three sites of La
Française des Jeux are fully accessible to disabled people.
In 2008, La Française des
Jeux launched a company-wide training plan on learning and understanding
disability in the corporate environment, organised by the theatre group
Théâtre à la Carte. This was continued in 2009. In
addition, the Executive Committee spent a day examining the issue of
non-discrimination and diversity, which also covered disability.
In October 2009, two dedicated
training courses were organised for the orientation and integration of disabled
employees.
A special leaflet will be circulated
in early November to all employees to explain disability and to address any
misconceptions.
Careers guidance for disabled
employees: Access to professional training catering for different
disabilities is organised through specialist service providers. La
Française des Jeux is committed to making extra efforts to support
disabled people who might benefit from professional development, through skills
assessment, the employees right of access to training, recognition of
prior learning, mentoring, etc.
Preventing the risks of
work-related disability: So that all health and safety actors work
effectively together to prevent disability, it was decided that the
companys medical professionals would pay particular attention to
individuals whose disability could be aggravated by their job. The medics will
inform management of any risks created by the job so that these can be swiftly
remedied.
2 Changing company
attitudes
Disabled Employment Week:
Launched in 1997 by ADAPT2, Disabled Employment Week, held in the third
week of November, is designed to change attitudes of recruiters towards
disabled people. La Française des Jeux has supported this event since
2008: for a whole week, more than 16,000 screens in lottery outlets across
France show an animated film to raise public awareness of the event.
During Disabled Employment Week, La Française des Jeux takes part
alongside 400 firms in the National Disabled Employment Forum, where it meets
disabled jobseekers.
Raising awareness throughout
France: For 10 years, La Française des Jeux has organised a summer
tour to some 15 seaside resorts around France, from Pas-de-Calais in the north
to Alpes-Maritimes in the south. This is the largest roadshow event in France,
with 230,000 people taking part.
In 2008, the issue of disability was
highlighted during a slam when the spoken word is put to
music, rather like rap by a young disabled artist, who also took part in
several other events during the roadshow.
Since the 2008 tour, Tiralo chairs,
which allow people with reduced mobility to bathe in the sea, have been donated
to 19 of the seaside towns that hosted the tour.
In the same vein, La
Française des Jeux sponsors a music tour called the 8th Note
in association with the French National Disability Council, providing a
showcase for disabled talent and allowing disabled artists to express
themselves through music. This event, which is still at the planning stage, is
due to visit various parts of France in 2010, with the first concert scheduled
to take place in Lorient, Brittany, on 18 November 2009.
La Française des Jeux
Foundation is proud to sponsor disabled sport: Continuing a longstanding
tradition of community sponsorship, La Française des Jeux is helping to
develop disabled sport, providing funding for top-level disabled athletes and
supporting associations involved in promoting this activity. Five disabled
athletes supported by the Foundation competed in the Beijing Paralympics, two
of them coming away with six medals between them. La Française des Jeux
Foundation is also a partner of the French Federation for Disabled Sport,
sponsoring the French disabled cycling team and helping it to train for major
international events such as the World Championships and the Paralympics. In
addition, La Française des Jeux has highlighted its active recruitment
policy for people with a disability among organisations which help to retrain
retired disabled athletes.

Tuesday morning, the five-member
Idaho State Lottery Commission unanimously approved offering Mega Millions with
Megaplier tickets in Idaho. Powerball with PowerPlay, Idahos other big jackpot
game, will also continue to be sold in Idaho. Pending final agreements and
approval between the Mega Millions consortium and the Multi-State Lottery
Association (the group that operates Powerball), Idaho could begin selling both
games on January 31, 2010.
Adding Mega Millions with

Idaho Lottery line-up. The Idaho Lottery will also continue to offer daily
games Idaho Pick3 and Double Play Daily.
This game addition is a win
for Idaho, added Anderson. Its a win for our
players who enjoy big jackpot games; its a win for Idaho businesses who
offer Lottery products; and its a win for the Idaho Lotterys
primary beneficiaries public schools and the permanent building fund.
Both will realize an increase in dividends from the game.
While there will be added excitement
for more opportunities to play for more frequent big jackpots with the addition
of Mega Millions with Megaplier, the Idaho Lottery urges players to play
responsibly.
Idaho is one of 33 United States
jurisdictions that currently participate in Powerball. Mega Millions
(megamillions.com) is the other large, multi-state multi-million dollar game
that is currently played in twelve jurisdictions in the United States. Just
like Powerball with PowerPlay, tickets cost $1 and players select five white
balls from 1 to 56 and one Mega Ball from 1 to 46. Mega
Millions jackpots begin at $12 million and grow until the jackpot is won. The
Idaho version of Mega Millions will feature a Megaplier
which will multiply non-jackpot winnings by 2, 3, or 4 times for $1 more per
play at the time of purchase. The current jackpot for tonights Mega
Millions draw is an estimated $17 million and the Powerball jackpot for
Wednesday night is an estimated $25 million.

players. For example, a group of sport experts (sport journalists, retired
sport athletes) has been created to help players bet better thanks to a Web TV
and will give every week their predictions on a selection of bets.
It should be pointed out that La
Française des Jeux was the first signatory with Veikkaus the Finnish
lottery, of the European Code of Conduct on sports betting, developed on their
initiative under the auspices of the European Lotteries Association. Signed by
46 lotteries, this Code includes specific commitments: the fight against sports
corruption, money-laundering and compulsive gaming.
In 2008, POS sports betting of La
Française des Jeux achieved 630 million in sales, an increase of
65%, representing 7% of the companys total sales. La Française des
Jeux online sport betting sales reached 26.5 million, up 120% compared
with 2007. They accounted for 12% of the total of the companys Internet

Colorado Lottery Expanding Popular Cash 5 Drawing to
Sundays
DENVER, Colorado (November 18, 2009)
-- The Colorado Lotterys most
winnable jackpot game is about to provide consumers with even more chances to
win. The Lottery is adding a Sunday night drawing for Cash 5 starting Nov.
22nd, providing players the opportunity to win the games $20,000 jackpot
every day of the week.
The Lottery paid out 91
Cash 5 jackpots in Fiscal Year 2009 alone, said Colorado Lottery
Director Jack Boehm.
With the addition of a seventh drawing day, we expect those numbers to
grow.
Launched in 1996, Cash 5 offers an
overall probability of winning of 1 in 6.2. The games jackpot is hit on
average 7.5 times per month. Cash 5 is also the only jackpot game the Lottery
offers that allows players to multiply their potential winnings tenfold, by
playing up to ten boards of the same numbers per drawing.
The games strong odds and
ability to play multiple boards have attracted a loyal following. Even in the
tough economy, Cash 5 posted record sales of $20.8 million in FY 09 and raised
$7.1 million for the Lotterys proceeds beneficiaries. Since its founding,
the game had paid out over $20.6 million to more than 1,000 top-prize
winners.
Cash 5 sales begin at 4:30 a.m.
Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday. Sales are suspended at 7:30 p.m.
daily, to accommodate the drawings, which are held at approximately 7:40 p.m.
Players may purchase tickets for up to 91 draws or 13 weeks in advance.
Proceeds from Cash 5 and the
Colorado Lotterys other games Powerball, Lotto, and Scratch
stay in Colorado to improve the quality of life in the state. Through Great
Outdoors Colorado, the Conservation Trust Fund and Colorado State Parks, the
Lottery has provided more than $2 billion in funding since 1983 to build new
trails, preserve open space, construct recreation centers and protect wildlife
habitat.

SCEL Player Information Display Helps SLED Find Missing
Children!
COLUMBIA, South Carolina (November
24, 2009) - What looks like a typical television screen is an additional
resource for broadcasting an emergency message when a child is missing.
The Player Information Display (PID)
is a new device the South
Carolina Education Lottery (SCEL) uses to present lottery information and,
when necessary, AMBER Alerts.
Already, three AMBER Alerts have
been broadcast to approximately 2,000 lottery retailers since PID deployment in
August. PIDs are being installed weekly at additional lottery outlets providing
a fast track to timely details concerning missing children across South
Carolina.
"We have more than 3,500 retailer
partners around the state," said SCEL Executive Director Paula Harper
Bethea. "Immediately after receiving the information from the South Carolina
Law Enforcement Division (SLED), we are able to broadcast AMBER Alerts to every
corner of our state simultaneously. The new 15-inch LCD screens are attention
grabbers, so the vital information is viewed right away," Bethea added.
At the time an AMBER Alert is
issued, the Lottery's regular programming is halted to display only the AMBER
Alert. Published against a bright yellow background, the Alert is hard to miss
on the PID. Customers inside the retail location can view the Alert, any
accompanying photos, and the telephone number to call if they have pertinent
information to share with the authorities.
"The partnership between law
enforcement, the public and media is what makes the AMBER Alert Program so
successful," said Glenda Booth, SLED AMBER Alert Coordinator/Criminal
Analyst. "The addition of the Lottery Commission's Player Information
Displays will enable thousands of citizens across the state to view pictures of
the suspect and child when the AMBER Alert is activated. In South Carolina, the
AMBER Alert has been activated 35 times, with 44 recoveries," Booth
reported.
SCEL has been a crime fighting
colleague of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division since 2003 when the
first ticket terminals at retailers began transmitting emergency information.
The new PIDs offer an advantage in providing lottery retailers with additional
details and photographs to assist in the recovery of a missing child.
"We have received such positive
remarks from our retailers," said Bethea. "They appreciate the vital
service the PIDs supply and that it allows them to be part of the community's
effort to find a missing child."
